Lower Back Pain

It is estimated that 4.9 million work days are lost due to work related back pain.  The charity Backcare estimates the overall cost of backpain to the NHS, business and the economy at a staggering £5 billion per year.

The spine is made up of 33 irregular shaped bones (vertebrae).  Each vertebrae has a hole in the middle where the spinal cord is, inbetween each vertebrae are discs that act as shock absorbers.

Scoliosis - This is a deformity of the spine into a S or C shape.  This can be either non-structural (mobile); from a condition caused outside the spine and dissapears when that is corrected.  For example one leg being longer than the other then the Scoliosis will correct when you sit down.  This will be instantly rectified by bespoke orthoses to correct the limb length.

The other is structural Scoliosis (true), there is a fixed curvature in your spine usually the cause of this cannot be treated.
