Knee Pain

Knee injuries are very common, especially when taking part in sport.  Injuries to soft tissues, such as ligaments and tendons are most common.  Also arthritis (wear and tear) to the knee joint can also be a factor in knee pain.

The most common types of knee pain are in the form of:

Sprain - Where a ligament or ligaments have become over stretched either by twisting or pulling.

Strain - A tendon or muscle is over stretched, damage to the cartilage in the knee (meniscus) this is the shock absorber and can become damaged from high impact sports such as running, football, lacrose and skiing.

Physiotherapy will help strengthen the knee and the surrounding structures by giving exercises and deep massage.  Podiatry will help re-align the knee position by providing bespoke orthoses.
