Plantar Fasciitis

This is the most common musculoskeletal foot problem seen at the practice.  It can be very painful and debilitating.  Plantar Fasciitis is inflammation of the tissues and muscles that support your arch. 

Pain is usually worse first thing in the morning, after rest or during exercise.  Plantar Fasciitis is an over use injury, as you walk or exercise the arch of the foot flattens, as this is repeated it can cause small tears resulting in inflammation. 

There are many reasons for suffering from Plantar Fasciitis such as increase in exercise, wearing the wrong type of footwear, have poor biomechanics and tight calf muscles.

Treatment usually consists of: Orthotics, exercises, massage, corticosteroid injection and surgery.
