Knee injuries are very common, especially when taking part in sport.

Injuries to soft tissues, such as ligaments and tendons are most common.  Arthritis (wear and tear) to the knee joint can also be a factor in knee pain.

The most common types of knee pain are in the form of:

Sprain - Where a ligament or ligaments have become overstretched either by twisting or pulling.

Strain - A tendon or muscle is overstretched or damage to the cartilage in the knee (meniscus).   This is the shock absorber and can become damaged from high impact sports such as running, football, lacrosse and skiing.

Physiotherapy will help strengthen the knee and the surrounding structures by doing exercises and deep massage.  Podiatry will help realign the knee position by providing bespoke orthoses.
